I am… 2 Years Old – DOB 1st April 2018
I come from… The Pound
I am looking for… A VERY PATIENT AND EXPERIENCED HOME – SERIOUS ENQUIRIES ONLY
Can I be rehomed with dogs? Under Assessments
Can I be rehomed with cats? No, we cannot cat test dogs from the pound.
Can I be rehomed with children? No, adult only home
I am looking for… A foster or forever home
Moose is just a young boy but he has gone through a lot in his life so far. We are looking for a very special home for him. The pound originally took Moose on as a result of domestic violence issues in his original home. Understandably, Moose can be nervous and fearful around new men that he meets.
He was rehomed but sadly due to his complicated issues, he is now coming to SSR. His second home really struggled to get a lead on him and struggled to wipe his face folds without him being grumbly. An incident then occured where poor Moose was pinned down to comply which has left Moose even more broken than before. He now will not accept a harness and currently walks on a slip lead. To date, he is back at the pound and will be arriving to us shortly to help him find happiness.
When Moose arrives with us, we will work with him alongside our team of behaviorists to further assess him and determine what sort of home he would benefit most from.
His key worker at the pound can now wipe his face and tail with no issues as she has build a lot of trust and patience with him. Moose isn’t keen on other staff members doing this as he is too nervous.
He is a lovely boy just a little broken. We are asking for a very experienced, pet free and adult only home who can take Moose in, love him and work through his issues patiently without pushing his limits too much as this will only drive him backwards. SSR will be working with his forever home to provide on hand support at all times.
Prospective owners must be prepared to meet him several times.
SERIOUS ENQUIRIES ONLY. PLEASE DO NOT ENQUIRE ABOUT MOOSE BASED ON HIS APPEARANCE, PLEASE CONSIDER IF YOU CAN TAKE ON MOOSE AS HE IS A DIFFICULT AND COMPLEX DOG.
MY TEMPERAMENT WITH OTHER DOGS

Help us find Moose a home!
Do you have a home for Moose?
We are looking for foster families and adoptive families. We do ask foster homes to be within an hour’s drive of Bournemouth as the dogs in foster use our local vets and foster homes will be required to bring the foster dog back to us for any medical treatments.
We rehome to adoptive families within a 2 hour driving radius of Bournemouth. A home check and a vet check is required, with a £200 adoption fee, which contributes partially to kennel fees, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neutering, flea/worming treatment and other veterinary costs. This adoption fee will contribute to the care of all our dogs.
We have a thorough rehoming programme to prepare you and your dog for each other. We also offer help and support for you both in the future. Learn about responsible ownership or contact us if you have any questions.
If you are considering fostering or permanently rehoming a dog, then please print off and complete one of the forms below:
Please note: We only rehome within a 2 hour driving radius of the Bournemouth area and do not place dogs in homes with children under the age of 6.
