I am looking for… A foster or forever home
Sometimes, Staffie and Stray Rescue offer to help dogs from overseas because we feel that they have better chances of finding a forever home here in the UK. In Spain, Staffordshire bull terriers must be muzzled in public, regardless of temperament.
Merlyn is currently with a dog rescue in Spain and waiting for his date to arrive in the UK.
Merlyn was one of the first Staffies taken in by SOS Salobrena, found after being abandoned in a field as a puppy. After being rescued, Meryl had a brush with death. At just 8 months old he had caught Parvovirus and had to fight for his life and have blood transfusions. It was touch and go but Merlyn survived. He gradually overcame his shyness and is good with people. He is more reserved than other Staffies but when he gets to know you, you will see his confidence grow!
Poor Meryln has now been in kennels overseas for a year now. He is quite a shy and timid boy, but it doesn’t take long for him to warm up to people! He is soon wagging his tail and loves cuddles!
We will anticipate the journey from Spain to UK will be quite unsettling and we expect Merlyn to be very nervous at first, please bear this in mind if you are offering a foster home for Merlyn, he may quite time and space when he arrives.
The rescue will further assess Meryln upon arrival and will be looking for a foster home where assessments can continue to be carried out.
Merlyn will be looking for a home who has the patience of helping him come out of his shell. Merlyn currently lives in a remove part of Spain, so a more suburban area might mean that he isn’t used to the noise of traffic etc. We would love to find Merlyn a home who is committed to building his confidence as he transitions to the UK.
Please contact the rescue if you can offer a foster or forever home for Merlyn.
MY TEMPERAMENT WITH OTHER DOGS
Meryln has not shown reactive behaviour towards other dogs but is shy and a little withdrawn.

Help us find Merlyn a home!
Do you have a home for Merlyn?
We are looking for foster families and adoptive families. We do ask foster homes to be within an hour’s drive of Bournemouth as the dogs in foster use our local vets and foster homes will be required to bring the foster dog back to us for any medical treatments.
We rehome to adoptive families within a 2 hour driving radius of Bournemouth. A home check and a vet check is required, with a £200 adoption fee, which contributes partially to kennel fees, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neutering, flea/worming treatment and other veterinary costs. This adoption fee will contribute to the care of all our dogs.
We have a thorough rehoming programme to prepare you and your dog for each other. We also offer help and support for you both in the future. Learn about responsible ownership or contact us if you have any questions.
If you are considering fostering or permanently rehoming a dog, then please print off and complete one of the forms below:
Please note: We only rehome within a 2 hour driving radius of the Bournemouth area and do not place dogs in homes with children under the age of 6.
