Hi, I’m Max! I am looking for a very special home with a confident dog owner!
My Name Is… Max
I am… 3 Years Old – DOB 3rd December 2017
I am… A Staffie x Border Collie
I am… Deaf
Can I be rehomed with dogs? No
Can I be rehomed with cats? No
Can I be rehomed with children? Aged 16+
I am looking for… A foster or forever home
Max has come from a well love home from but due to unforeseen circumstances he is looking for a new home. He has now been with the rescue for almost a year waiting for that special home. His behaviour and well-being is starting to deteriorate in kennels and we are desperate to find him a foster home.
Max is a young Collie x Staffie who has more Collie traits than Staffie. His favourite toy is his ball. He will drop the ball and allow you to throw it. The rescue have encouraged playtime with his ball outside of the home but then taking it away in the home, as Max can become obsessive with it and therefore struggle to settle down.
In the home, Max has struggled to settle during previous trials with potential adopters. He will need a few days to get used to his surroundings and relax into his new home.
Max is a creature of habit and sticking to a routine is a must! He is quite OCD in his routines! Max will enjoy a long walk in the morning and then will be happy to sleep the rest of the day.
Max has fly snapping syndrome and this is managed through medication. This does not affect Max’s day to day life though and shouldn’t put prospective adopters off!
Being deaf certainly isn’t a limitation for Max. He can be guided and shown the way with hand signals and taps. Max does bark a bit but most of the time this is because he is trying to tell you something. Once new owners understand him, it will be a lot easier to manage. He is looking for a home who can continue to teach him sign language.
Max would like a home where someone is around most of the time to work on being left for short periods. He travels very well in the car and enjoys snoozing on the journey.
MY TEMPERAMENT WITH OTHER DOGS
Max is not sociable with other dogs but will walk politely past other dogs. He can be a bit silly on the lead but walks beautifully with a bridle which will require further patience and training.
Because he is deaf, Max cannot be near any roads off lead.

Do you have a home for Max?
We are looking for foster families and adoptive families. We do ask foster homes to be within an hour’s drive of Bournemouth as the dogs in foster use our local vets and foster homes will be required to bring the foster dog back to us for any medical treatments.
We rehome to adoptive families within a 2 hour driving radius of Bournemouth. A home check and a vet check is required, with a £200 adoption fee, which contributes partially to kennel fees, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neutering, flea/worming treatment and other veterinary costs. This adoption fee will contribute to the care of all our dogs.
We have a thorough rehoming programme to prepare you and your dog for each other. We also offer help and support for you both in the future. Learn about responsible ownership or contact us if you have any questions.
If you are considering fostering or permanently rehoming a dog, then please print off and complete one of the forms below:
