Lucy Needs a Home

About Lucy

My name is… Lucy

I am… 8 months old

I am from… Italy

My special needs… I walk with a wheelchair

Can I be rehomed with dogs? Yes

Can I be rehomed with cats? Yes

Can I be rehomed with children? Yes, over 6

I am looking for… A  forever home

Lucy was found at 3 months old as a stray in Italy. When she was found it was discovered that she has an old spinal injury, it is speculated that she was possibly run over by a car. She now walks with a wheelchair.

Due to her injury, Lucy is incontinent. We are looking for a sensitive and loving home who is prepared to potentially adapt their home with ramps etc. to make it easy for Lucy to get around. This will be a challenge for Lucy’s new home but also very rewarding!

We are looking for a very special home for our Lucy.

Lucy is a loving girl who is very cuddly and affectionate. She loves to run around in her little wheelchair, it has given her a new lease of life!

When she is out of her wheelchair, she does have little movement and will need to be carried in some circumstances.

Lucy does wear a nappy as she is incontinent.

Her needs going forward will require physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and daily massages to help build up her muscles. SSR can provide support with funding for Lucy’s care. We can also cover the costs required to add in ramps to the home so that Lucy can move about a lot more.

Lucy is great on the lead with other dogs. She is very happy to say hello and play. She could possibly find it a bit tough with other dogs and toys as she has a disadvantage being on her wheels.

  • I am looking for a forever home
  • I can be rehomed with dogs & cats
  • I can live with children over 6
  • Ideally we are looking for someone who is experienced in working with disabilities.

Please contact the rescue if you can offer a  forever home.

Help us find Lucy a home!

Do you have a home for Lucy?

We are looking for foster families and adoptive families. We do ask foster homes to be within an hour’s drive of Bournemouth as the dogs in foster use our local vets and foster homes will be required to bring the foster dog back to us for any medical treatments.

We rehome to adoptive families within a 2 hour driving radius of Bournemouth. A home check and a vet check is required, with a £180 adoption fee.

We have a thorough rehoming programme to prepare you and your dog for each other. We also offer help and support for you both in the future. Learn about responsible ownership or contact us if you have any questions.

If you are considering fostering or permanently rehoming a dog, then please print off and complete one of the forms below:
