MY HISTORY

Lola has had several homes in her young life, some which we believe have been traumatic for her.  She had been used for breeding and made to live with other dogs, this had made her very anxious around other animals.

ABOUT LOLA

Hi, I’m Lola! I’m a 5 year old Mastiff Cross. I have been with Staffie and Stray Rescue now for 18 months. I am in a wonderful foster home, but I am really looking for a home to call my own!
I have already been in several homes prior to arriving at Staffie and Stray, many of these homes have been very traumatic for me. I have been bred from and mixed with other dogs, but I am frightened of other dogs and prefer my own company.
My rescue team tells me I am a big beauty and I look a little like Scooby Doo! I’m a little nervous when meeting new people for the first time and would prefer a home who is willing to meet me on several occasions before rehoming. It doesn’t take me long to warm up to people though and this can be helped with treats! Apparently I am the perfect house guest (with an occasional zoomie!) Really I am just a little lazy and a bit of a couch potato!
I am struggling to find a forever home because I am reactive towards other dogs. I am very strong on the lead and I am muzzle trained. I only need shorter walks and would love to be your best friend, I just need someone who can love me for who I am. I have had barely any interes in the 18 months that I have been here waiting.

Notes from the rescue: In the right home we feel this lovely girl will blossom. We feel that a more rural home location would suit her best in an area that is less dog populated. The adopter must be physically able to handle Lola on lead and guide the way for her to show her that she doesn’t need to be so scared.

MY TEMPERAMENT WITH OTHER DOGS

Lola is very reactive to other dogs having sadly been attacked in her previous life requiring veterinary treatment. She can sometimes walk past comfortably, but only from a reasonable distance. Other times she finds it a real struggle. As she is strong on the lead we have muzzle trained her to take precautions. She would be more than happy with just a couple of 2o minute walks for some exercise and a change of scenery in a quiet area away from other dogs and would be quite content with a nice garden.

TYPE OF HOME NEEDED

  • A dog experienced home, preferably with larger breeds
  • Willing to work with the rescue and with our behaviourist
  • A physically strong owner who can handle dog on lead
  • A pet free home
  • A home where children are over 12 years old

Help us find Lola a home!

Do you have a home for Lola?

We are looking for foster families and adoptive families. We do ask foster homes to be within an hour’s drive of Bournemouth as the dogs in foster use our local vets and foster homes will be required to bring the foster dog back to us for any medical treatments.

We rehome to adoptive families within a 2 hour driving radius of Bournemouth. A home check and a vet check is required, with a £200 adoption fee, which contributes partially to kennel fees, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neutering, flea/worming treatment and other veterinary costs. This adoption fee will contribute to the care of all our dogs.

We have a thorough rehoming programme to prepare you and your dog for each other. We also offer help and support for you both in the future. Learn about responsible ownership or contact us if you have any questions.

If you are considering fostering or permanently rehoming a dog, then please print off and complete one of the forms below:

Please note: We only rehome within a 2 hour driving radius of the Bournemouth area and do not place dogs in homes with children under the age of 6.
