MY HISTORY
Herbie has been in around 4 homes in his lifetime. Most recently, he has been in a long term foster home and under the care of SSR for around 3 years. Due to very sad and unforseen circumstances, Herbie has returned into our care and into kennels. It must be said that this home have been perfect for Herbie and have worked absolute wonders with him. He has come so, so far with his behaviour and training and we can only thank his previous home for their incredible work. It has been incredibly distressing and upsetting for them to part ways with Herbie.
We are now on the search for a home who would be up for stepping in as a long term foster role so that the rescue can continue to assist with Herbie’s behavioural needs, as well as financially support him in any way he needs (Food, bedding, toys, treats etc)
ABOUT HERBIE
Hi, I’m Herbie!
I’m quite famous here at Staffie and Stray Rescue! I have been sticking around with them a long time! I have the tendancy to be a pickle sometimes and I would love a home who can provide me with sufficient physical exercise and mental draining. I would love an adult only home where I can be the centre of their world. Perhaps a home who enjoys long walks on a weekend where I can come with them! I have settled well in cafe’s and pubs and have enjoyed holidays in Cornwall and Scotland too!
I absolutely love being in secure dog fields and having a good run around! I have even been to an indoor dog agilty centre and had the best time!
Food is the way to my heart, I love all food and treats! I know basic commands and I am a very smart boy. The trick with me really is to try and be two steps ahead of me!
I travel really well in the car.
I am crate trained and this will need to be continued in my next home.
I walk nicely on the lead, but I can pull if I see a small furry! Everyone comments on what a good boy I am though when they see me out and about!
I would love a home who can provide me with a good routine and stability.
My ideal family would be a dog experienced home and/or a home who is willing and able to follow guidance from the rescue – They know me inside out!
I am looking for a home within an hours drive of Bournemouth so that support can be available to my pawrents.

I am so loved here at Staffie and Stray and my team are rooting for someone to come forward and give me a chance!
HEALTH
I am in good general health. I don’t have any allergies or dietary requirements.
I am on medication to help with my anxiety/to help keep me calm.
MY TEMPERAMENT WITH OTHER DOGS
I am dog friendly. Sometimes I can be a bit too much or a bit too boisterous with smaller dogs or dogs who may not wish to say hello.

Do you have a home for Herbie?
We are looking for foster families and adoptive families.
We do ask foster homes to be within an hour’s drive of Bournemouth foster homes will be expected to drive back to our vets in Bournemouth and to meet with prospective new homes.
We rehome to adoptive families within a 2 hour driving radius of Bournemouth. (maximum 2hrs, 30 minutes for the perfect applicant willing to travel) Please DO NOT ask if we make exceptions further and look at other rescues covering your area if we do not.
A home check and a vet check is required, with a £275 adoption fee (or £425 for puppy adoption under 1 year), which contributes partially to kennel fees, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neutering, flea/worming treatment and other veterinary costs. This adoption fee will contribute to the care of all our dogs.
We have a thorough rehoming programme to prepare you and your dog for each other. We also offer help and support for you both in the future. Learn about responsible ownership or contact us if you have any questions.

Please note: We only rehome within a 2.5 hour driving radius of the Bournemouth area and do not place dogs in homes with children under the age of 6.
