I AM CURRENTLY REHABILITATION AND I CANNOT BE REHOMED AT THE MOMENT
My Name Is… Dorothy
I am… 2-3 Years Old – This is an approximate age as I was not microchipped
Can I be rehomed with dogs? No
Will I socialise with other dogs when out on walks? No
Can I be rehomed with cats? No
Can I be rehomed with children? No, 16+
I am looking for… A very special foster or forever home
We do not not know about Dorothy’s past, but physically we can see that this poor girl has suffered some serious, heart breaking abuse.
This girl was totally shut down for weeks when she was in the pound, she was completely traumatized and had a swollen, sore back end. It is also clear that she has been used for mass breeding, by the looks of her undercarriage.
Dorothy is looking for a patience, experienced and sensitive home who can help her find her confidence again. She is an amazing dog, but will require a lot of specialist assistance from the SSR team.
Dorothy is reactive to people that she doesn’t know, especially men. She has build a special relationship with some of the team from the pound and she is very trusting with them.
She’s very strong and ‘driven’ so is difficult to walk at the moment. Because of her past, Dorothy is dog aggressive and has a very high prey drive. She’s brilliant in her kennel, completely clean and doesn’t chew.
She knows a lot of commands and is very obedient. She’s got typical white bull breed allergies with her skin, so is on steroids at the moment and strict grain free diet, which is slowly helping.
Dorothy has arrived to Staffie and Stray Rescue and is currently in our emergency kennels, as a more female oriented rescue we feel that we can provide this girl with the life she has never had. We will assess her and will work closely with her new home to help rehabilitate her. There is an amazing dog inside just waiting for someone to show the love and support she deserves.

Do you have a home for Dorothy?
We are looking for foster families and adoptive families. We do ask foster homes to be within an hour’s drive of Bournemouth as the dogs in foster use our local vets and foster homes will be required to bring the foster dog back to us for any medical treatments.
We rehome to adoptive families within a 2 hour driving radius of Bournemouth. A home check and a vet check is required, with a £180 adoption fee.
We have a thorough rehoming programme to prepare you and your dog for each other. We also offer help and support for you both in the future. Learn about responsible ownership or contact us if you have any questions.
