I am looking for… A forever home
Beau has already been in a few homes already before coming to rescue and sadly it is not working out. She is a very nervous girl looking for a very calm, patient and experienced home.
Beau is a very anxious and fearful young lady. She hasn’t previously been walked too much as she finds the world quite a scary place to be! Ideally we would like to work on this by slowly introducing short walks in quiet areas to help ease her fears.
Miss Beau isn’t a dog where people can just go straight in for strokes and cuddles. She is actually very fearful when strangers enter the home and we are looking family who can understand this. New owners will be required to meet Beau several times and must be aware that she will not be able to be stroked on the first meeting until trust is built up. In particular, Beau becomes more anxious with younger children or males. In her current home, Beau will bark and seek reassurance from her current owner, who she is well bonded with. She does also cower or run away. For these reasons, we are looking for an adult only home. Beau is happy to be stroked with people she is comfortable with, it just takes some time. She can be won over eventually with treats!
Beau doesn’t enjoy travelling in the car at all. We would ideally look to rehome Beau in the very local area of Bournemouth to avoid additional stress in the transition period of being adopted.
When Beau is out on walks, she walks with a harness and generally walks very well on the lead, with little pulling.
Beau will require grooming around her tail with wet wipes due to tight tail pocket. She doesn’t mind this being done with people she is comfortable with and quite enjoys it! She has been known to run off with the grooming brush though!
She knows the basic commands such as sit and paw. She could be trained with further basic commands with the use of treats to encourage her.
Beau isn’t hugely into toys and she is happy to be left for reasonable periods of time. She is crate trained when her current owners go out and also sleeps in her crate at night.
She is currently fed on Harringtons and enjoys carrots for treats.
Beau is looking for a quiet and peaceful home where she can finally relax and enjoy her happy ever after!
Staffie and Stray Rescue will be on hand to offer full advice and support along the way.
MY TEMPERAMENT WITH OTHER DOGS
Beau is reactive if other dogs are with her in the home, but outside of the home she can be walked near other dogs and is generally OK. She must always be on lead at all times. Due to her anxiety. any noises that spook her could lead to running away in fear. She doesn’t have recall.

Do you have a home for Beau?
We are looking for foster families and adoptive families. We do ask foster homes to be within an hour’s drive of Bournemouth as the dogs in foster use our local vets and foster homes will be required to bring the foster dog back to us for any medical treatments.
We rehome to adoptive families within a 2 hour driving radius of Bournemouth. A home check and a vet check is required, with a £200 adoption fee, which contributes partially to kennel fees, vaccinations, microchipping, spay/neutering, flea/worming treatment and other veterinary costs. This adoption fee will contribute to the care of all our dogs.
We have a thorough rehoming programme to prepare you and your dog for each other. We also offer help and support for you both in the future. Learn about responsible ownership or contact us if you have any questions.
