MY HISTORY

Amy was found as a stray and taken to the pound and nobody came forward to claim her. We were able to offer Amy a space. She went into a foster home which sadly didn’t work out, meaning that she had to go back into kennels. Thankfully, another foster came forward for Amy. She is now looking for her forever home.

ABOUT AMY

Hi, I’m Amy!

Since arriving into the care of SSR, I have had a couple of fits lasting up to 1 minute long. I am confused and disorientated for a short while after. I am now on some medication for epilepsy which aims to stop my seizures. The rescue can possibly assist financially with this medication for applicants who live locally to our vets to collect medication.

I am described as a bit of a ‘pocket rocket’ as I have quite a lot of energy and I display lots of hyperactivity behaviours. I really love my long walks and I walk great on the lead especially in quieter areas. I do lose my focus when there are lots of people around or other dogs. I always want to say hello to everyone and everything. Too much overstimulation in terms of play can leave me a bit mouthy but I do relax and snooze following a good amount of exercise and mental stimulation. Phyiscal and mental enrichment will be the key!

Human affection really makes me feel safe and at ease and I would love a sofa snuggle buddy to call my own! I will get under your feet constantly and I am quite a needy girl and I will need extra training in this department. I will also want to sleep on your bed and if you would prefer me not to, you might want to prepare for some sleepless nights in training! Because I love being with people so much, I would prefer to find a home where someone is around most of the time but also a home who can start the work in promoting some independence so that I can eventually be left.

I am a brilliant girl, everyone who meets me, loves me!

Please do reach out if you can offer me a forever home!

MY TEMPERAMENT WITH OTHER DOGS

I would prefer a home where I am the only dog.

I haven’t shown any reactive behavour, however I am very exhuberant and exciteable and I need to learn how to approach other dogs calmly.

TYPE OF HOME NEEDED

I am looking for:

  • A forever home
  • A pet free home
  • A home where children are aged 12+
