MY HISTORY

Amy was found as a stray and taken to the pound and nobody came forward to claim her. We were able to offer Amy a space. She went into a foster home which sadly didn’t work out, meaning that she had to go back into kennels. Thankfully, another foster came forward for Amy. She is now looking for her forever home.

ABOUT AMY

Hi, I’m Amy!

I have been under the care of Staffie and Stray since December with very little interest! Luckily I am in a very loving foster home, but I would love to find my forever home!

Let me tell you a bit about myself. My best quality is that I am a champion snuggler! I am described by my foster home to be like a teddy bear. I love to be with my people all the time. I will always find a lap or any nook of a person I can find! It helps me to feel safe and secure.

I also absolutely love sleeping in your bed. I am absolutely no trouble at all, I will curl up in the smallest ball and will sleep like a log the whole night through! I don’t even wake up that early! I promise to be the perfect bedtime buddy! I really love my cuddles.

I thoroughly enjoy going out on walks and I have plenty of stamina being out an about. I would enjoy an active family who can take me everywhere. I have travelled for longer periods in the car absolutely fine.

I can get a bit hyperactive sometimes when there is food about, I just love food! Having structured mealtimes have helped me not to get so silly though!

I do struggle being left alone, so I would love a family where someone is around all the time. I will be a little shadow throughout the day. However, I am a lot more settled in the evenings and I am happy chilling on the sofa in front of the TV whilst my foster parents can prepare dinner and do anything that they need to do! I am improving all the time!

Since arriving into the care of SSR, I have had a couple of fits lasting up to 1 minute long. I am confused and disorientated for a short while after. I am now on some medication for epilepsy which aims to stop my seizures.  Since being on the medicaiton, I have only had one seizure which lasted only 20 seconds and was less severe. The vets have recently put me on a higher dose of medication and I am pleased to report no seizures yet which is looking promising!

he rescue can possibly assist financially with this medication for applicants who live locally to our vets to collect medication. I hope this doesn’t put me off as I am a really lovely girl, anyone who meets me will certainly fall in love!

Please do reach out if you can offer me a forever home!

MY TEMPERAMENT WITH OTHER DOGS

I would prefer a home where I am the only dog.

I haven’t shown any reactive behavour, however I am very exhuberant and exciteable and I need to learn how to approach other dogs calmly.
